| Performance of Microfinance Component of Forestry Project |
| Supported by Japan Bank for International Co-operation (JBIC), the project aims to explore the financial sustainability of SHG microfinance as part of Joint Forest Management (JFM) and how significantly it is fostering achievement of JFM strategy and goals. The assignment will lay emphasis on household access to credit for alternative livelihood opportunities, facilitate women empowerment and capacity building by enhance participation in the Village Forest Committee, a local governing body formed for overall management of JFM. The findings will support creation of best practices, identification of bottlenecks and improve effectiveness of microfinance component. |

| Introducing Poverty Progress Index (PPI) in MFI operations |
| Supported by Michael and Susan Dell Foundation (MSDF), the assignment attempts to work with MSDF’s partner MFIs in India to introduce the PPI as part of their operations and reporting. Initially, EDA will work with one of its partner in Lucknow, UP. The long term objective is to enable MFIs to regularly report on poverty outreach and movement out of poverty of their clients. This application of PPI will form the basis of Social Performance Management (SPM) integration which will include having clear social objectives, poverty targeting, staff orientation and MIS monitoring and reporting |

| Supporting Social Performance Management and Reporting in Partner MFIs |
| Supported by Opportunity International (OI), Australia, the project aims to support the robust reporting on social returns of OI’s investment in India. As part of long term commitment the initiative will enable MFIs to achieve social objectives and have data to report on their achievement of social objectives. This is an important and innovative initiative in microfinance, in line with current efforts globally to refocus attention on the social dimension. |

| Implementation services support to Sustainable Microfinance for the Poor in Myanmar |
| Supported by United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS), the project provided support to microfinance initiatives in three regions of Dry Zone, Shan State and the Delta region of Myanmar. The project aimed at achieving sustainability in areas pertaining to managerial, technical, financial and institutional aspects. EDA worked towards strengthening the ability of sub-project managements to manage their own day-to-day affairs and improving their systems for sustainable and efficient microfinance operations. The training of staff members and key stakeholders in running the programme effectively was an important part of this task. Other operational issues like – monitoring performance achievement, providing formal training, making recommendations on operational systems, possibility of exploring microenterprise promotion, review of management Board, work in close tandem with Government agencies and Central Bank for emergence of regulatory framework.[2006 – 2007] |

| The potential of flexible microfinance – A social and financial assessment of the MEP |
| Supported by the Swiss Agency for Development and Co-operation, the project aimed to make organizational, financial and social assessment of each of the five Microfinance for the Extreme Poor (MEP) programmes. The MEP project supports pioneering initiatives in Bangladesh to adopt microfinance to serve financial needs of people living in extreme poverty. The study systematically documented the MEP programmes, their different models and products, analysed social performance in terms of outreach to target clients and the appropriateness of the services provided, as well as organisational performance (management systems, efficiency and financial sustainability).[2005 – 2006] |
