EDA Rural Systems Pvt Ltd was established to identify the service delivery gaps in the microfinance and micro-enterprise sectors and develop practical solutions to support and develop these sectors. Professional support to these sectors was identified as a sustainable vehicle to address EDA's core concern towards poverty and gender issues.

EDA, established in 1983, is today one of the leading development sector consultancy, research and capacity building organisations. Microfinance and Micro-enterprise are EDA's focus areas. EDA's experience of working in the poorest parts of South and South East Asia places it in a unique position to support livelihood programmes.
In this period of over of two decades, EDA has successfully developed and delivered solutions towards the growth of microfinance and micro-enterprise sectors. EDA's work and associations with multi-lateral development organisations, global not-for-profit institutions, governmental institutions and over 100 microfinance institutions span across 15 countries in South Asia , South-East Asia , Central Asia and the Pacific regions. |

Moving forward |

EDA, to leverage on its experience and better
serve the Eastern European region, has established EDA UK Ltd. EDA
has also established EDA Rural Artha Vikas, a not-for-profit
company which works to integrate effectively small and
micro-enterprises with markets to enable enterprises to climb the
ladder of promising sub sector value chain/s. |

EDA Rural Systems was founded and is led by alumni from Oxford University and London School of Economics. The leadership at EDA, having dedicated over 50 years in the development sector, is today recognised as a body of leading professionals in the sector. The EDA team has experienced professionals with education from leading educational institutes in India and the US. |
